Radio Redhill has scored three successes in the 2010 Mayor’s Community Awards organised by Reigate and Banstead Borough Council.

The awards were presented at a special ceremony in Reigate Town Hall by the Mayor, Cllr David Pay.

Three Radio Redhill members were presented with their Individual awards.

Lottie Ellis, now in her eighties, won an award in the Individual Volunteer category for her work over the last 25 years collecting record requests every Friday around the hospital, most recently around Holmwood, Tandridge and Buckland wards.

Sue Mason-Brown was a winner in the Trustee category for her work as Radio Redhill Secretary. The daughter of co-founder of the station, the late Les Fowler, and sister of the other co-founder Andrew Fowler, Sue has been a Radio Redhill member for over 30 years and Secretary for 12.

Mel Ellis won her award in the Young Volunteer category. Now aged 19, she was appointed as one of Radio Redhill’s Executive Producers on her 18th birthday and presented the Early Breakfast Show starting at 6 am during our special 35th Birthday celebrations.
