Radio Redhill launched its 50th Birthday celebrations on Sunday (April 13th) with a studio full of guests and the cutting of the birthday cake.
Presenting the two hour programme was Radio Redhill’s Chairman, Nigel Gray and Station Engineer, Ian Wilson.
Dr Edward Cetti, Medical Director at the Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust cut the cake after wishing Radio Redhill Happy Birthday on behalf of the trust.
Our co-founder Andrew Fowler talked to us about the origins of the station and how proud he is that it is still going after fifty years. Long term member and Andrew’s sister, Sue Mason-Brown said their dad, the late Les Fowler who founded the station with Andrew, would love to be able to see “how the baby has grown up”.
Also visiting was Anna O’Brien from Winchester Hospital Radio and Nigel Dallard, also from Winchester and representing the Hospital Broadcasting Association.
Nigel presented the station with a “Station Anniversary Award” on behalf of the HBA.
Many thanks to Kate Hutchings for taking the photos.
